Behind the lens

Hi! My name is Malaina Rhodes. I'm a small animal veterinarian with a big passion for all things equestrian.

I was introduced to the horse world when I was in college and have been captivated ever since. As a senior, I joined the club equestrian team on a whim, started to take walk-trot lessons, and quickly fell in love with what would become my greatest passion of all- horses.

Fast forward to life after veterinary school- I now have a very handsome mustang named Atticus that does low level eventing with me. There's no better feeling than galloping around a course and beaming with pride for this little wild horse that tries his heart out for me. How lucky I am to be his human!

That feeling of immense joy and pride comes back every time I look back on photos of him and I. Being able to bring back that feeling for other equestrians by capturing those moments inspires me as a photographer.

Photography started as a creative outlet for me to balance out what can be a pretty stressful (yet very rewarding) career. It has evolved into something so much more than just a hobby for me- it is truly a work of passion. I am thrilled to be able to share my passion with others through capturing the partnership of equestrians and their horses doing what they love.
